Beyond the more simple protected species surveys, larger or more complex sites and situations may attract a requirement for a Phase I study to inform a planning application (or other requirement) through “...a record of semi-natural vegetation and wildlife habitat...” (JNCC 2007).  This initial study can then lead to Phase II and III studies, becoming increasingly more detailed, if and when required by the circumstances.

To support minor and many major planning applications the Phase I study will usually suffice and is often extended to include some protected species specific assessment and advice.

Recommendations and obligations are identified and these are then enshrined in the Planning Consent via Condition or Legal Agreement often to include further future surveying post-consent.

Where mitigation measures have been stipulated on a site we are able to supply or advise on the provision of any required wildlife products.
